Richard Miller stammt aus England und arbeitete bei Sinclair Research Ltd und dann bei Cambridge Computers Ltd für Sir Clive Sinclair. Danach ging er in die USA zu Atari.
John Mathieson stammt ebenfalls aus England. Er arbeitete wie Richard für Sinclair und ist ihm dann zu Atari gefolgt.
Martin Brennan - ebenfalls aus England stammend - arbeitete wie Richard und John für Sinclair und hat zusammen mit John das Loki-Konzept und das Konix Multy-System geschaffen ist ihm dann zu Atari gefolgt.
Jeff Minter stammt (wenn wundert es) ebenfalls aus England. Er hatte bereits vor seiner Zeit bei Atari einen legendären Ruf als innovativer Programmierer.
Metamorphose!? Aus dem Loki-Konzept von Sinclair Research Ltd.(Ideenpaket um Nachfolger des Spectrum zu schaffen) wurde 7 Jahre später und über zig Umwege der ATARI JAGUAR...Na seht ihr die Parallelen (rein optisch: Schwarz, Rot, gelb, Kühlrillen, Expansion-Bus als offene Platine)?
John Mathieson, welcher sich im Jahre 1984 - zumindest aufgrund seiner Initialen - bei Sinclair Research Ltd. für QDOS v1.03 im JM-ROM (wobei JM für John Mathieson steht) des SINCLAIR QL verantwortlich zeigte und Martin Brennan, welcher bei Sinclair das Microdrive entwickelte gelten als Designer des ATARI JAGUAR. Die beiden galten schon als "Väter" des LOKI Konzeptes.
Das beim seinem Launch im Jahre 1993 absolut modernste Video-Game-System der Welt, der ATARI JAGUAR! Mit 5 Prozessoren (davon 4 RISC und eine MC60000 CISC), einem 64bit BUS-System, 2MByte RAM war der JAGUAR die erste 64bit Spielkonsole der Welt.

Alien vs Predator hat mich 1995 während Tagen und Wochen an den Bildschirm gefesselt..."it's alien time..."
So sah mein Jag-Equipment im Jahre 1995 aus.
1996 und 1997 trafen wir uns jeweils Sonntags in meiner Wohnung zum gamen. Auf dem Bild sind neben meinem Jag-Equipment ein weiterer Jaguar und ein Nintendo 64 zu sehen. Doom oder AirCars über JagLink, Tempest 2000, AvP, Battlemorph und Turok fesselten uns stundenlang.

10 Jahre sind seit meiner Gamerzeit vergangen. Mittlerweile habe ich einen Sohn (2000) und eine Tochter (2002). Seit 2006 dürfen sie gelegentlich JAGUAR spielen. Für sie ist der JAGUAR eine "Play Station" (im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes)! ;-)
Am 13. Januar 2008 hatte ich wieder mal etwas Zeit zum surfen. Dabei bin ich auf die frühen Jeff Minter Demos gestossen. ZIP-File runtergeladen, mit NERO eine CD gebacken, lauffähig waren die Jeff Minter Demos aus dem Jahre 1993.
Varuna's Forces (VF) ist eines der vielen nie erschienenen JAGUAR CD Games. Entwickelt wurde es von Accent Media Productions (AMP) aus Australien. Ich besitze diejenige CDR welche an der Winter-CES 1995 verwendet wurde. Darauf sind einige durch das JAGUAR CD ausführbare FMV, jedoch kein eigentliches Game. Wer mehr zu VF weiss, soll sich bitte bei mir melden.

After winning it on eBay the package arrived on July 28th 1999 which makes a 16 days journey from the US to Switzerland. After all I paid $166.50 for this CD. It's the original CD from ATARI/AMP! In fact it's the same CD as listed/shown at the AGH.
It arrived in perfect condition and it "works" on my ATARI JAGUAR CD! But as I'm using an european PAL JAGUAR with a PAL-TV I do not see the FMV in full-screen. In addition the sound/voices are scrambled. (seems to
be a PAL only problem).

In facts it seems to be a demo-CD as used at fairs like the E3. But it's not the latest what Atari showed about this game. This CD is dated 25-Jan-95. The Winter-CES was held on 6. to 9. January 1995. There

this summer-E3 CD of VF is?

It's not a playable demo, it's "only" a set of 6 FMV running on the Jag-CD.
As it runs on every standard Jag-CD it is a fully encryted CD.
My PC does not recognize this CD at all!
My HIFI CD-Player tells me that there's is one track only with the length of 12 seconds. This track holds 12 seconds audio of Tempest2000 "Mind's Eye".
Looking at the CD itself with my eyes I see 3 sessions, no. 1 and 2 beeing just a thin line, session 3 is 5 millimeter wide. I believe session 3 holds the data. Between each session there's about 3 millimeter
distance.
It's the only JAGUAR prototype I own.
I will have summer holidays end of August 2001 and would then like to make a full length MPEG-1 of it, before deciding to give it away or not.
As it's a CD in the JAGUAR format, I and many other people are (almost) "unable" to burn a working copy of it...
BTW: The 1:08 minutes Real-Player "movie" on AGH are just the first and part of the second FMV being on that CD...
Mehr als drei Jahre nach dem offiziellen Ende der ATARI Corporation (Juli 1996) und somit auch dem offiziellen Ende des JAGUAR, hat es das kleine Team 4Play doch noch geschafft und ihr Mega-Game "BattleSphere" zu releasen!!! Der Niedergang der ATARI Corporation konnte sie also nicht stoppen. Am 29.02.2000 (was für ein Datum) haben sie das Game released.
Mittlerweile besitze ich zwei Battlesphere Gold! :-)))
Trotz Niedergang von ATARI Corporation gab es einen Nachfolger für den JAGUAR...Richard Miller gründete mit ex ATARI-Staff (inkl. John Mathieson) VM Labs und startete 1996 das Project X (interner Codename Merlin), welches im Produkt NUON (Toshiba, RCA, Samsung DVD-Players) gipfelte. Im Herbst 2001 ging VM Labs das Geld aus, nach 9/11 war kein Investor mehr zu finden, was dazu führte, dass im Dezember 2001 Konkurs nach Chapter 11 beantragt werden musste...
Ich hatte Glück im Nuon-Unglück, denn als einziges Land in Europa wurden vollwertige Nuon enhanced DVD Players im "Testmarkt" Schweiz von Samsung lanciert. Die Fachmarktkette Fust führte den N504 von Samsung im Sortiment und bewarb ihn aktiv. Als VM Labs die puste ausging, war dann aber rasch Schluss.
